Couples Budget Spreadsheet

One budget for the two of you. Track both incomes, shared bills and personal spending (yours, mine and ours), and let the spreadsheet work out who owes whom every month, whether you split 50/50, by income or by your own custom percentage.

What’s inside

• Dashboard: pick a month and see household income, shared spending, each person’s share, who pays whom and how much, savings progress, money left over, debt left, a budget-by-category table and two charts
• Setup: both names, currency, budget year, your split method (50/50, proportional to income or custom %) and your categories with optional monthly budgets
• Income: each partner’s main and other income for every month, with the split worked out automatically
• Bills: regular bills with Jan to Dec amounts, marked shared (Ours) or personal, and who pays each one
• Spending: everyday purchases with category, whose cost it is and who paid, plus each person’s cost per line
• Settle Up: a monthly settlement that compares each person’s fair share with what they actually paid, including anything one of you paid for the other. Log the transfer and it shows Settled
• Savings Goals: shared goals with targets, dates, monthly contributions, progress and how much you need per month
• Debts: a simple list with balance, interest, payment, months to go and a debt-free date
• Year View: all 12 months of 2027 side by side, plus spending by category for the year

How it works

1. Download the files after purchase
2. Open in Excel, or upload to Google Drive and open with Google Sheets (share it with your partner so you can both add spending from your phones)
3. Add your names and split method, then your income, bills and spending. Type only in the yellow cells. Everything else updates by itself

Good to know

• Works in Excel 2016 or newer, Excel for Mac, Microsoft 365 and Google Sheets
• Any currency. Type your symbol once on Setup
• Paying from a joint account? Choose Joint account and it counts as shared spending without changing who owes whom
• Set up for January to December 2027. Change the year on Setup to reuse it
• This is a digital download. Nothing will be shipped
